Why is it important to join a church? When you join a church, you are making known your desire to live your daily life as a disciple of Jesus Christ in fellowship with other Christians. You make a covenant with God and with the members of the church to support God’s ministry through your prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness. You can become a member in one of the following ways:

• Profession of Faith: By confessing your sins and inviting Jesus Christ to become your Lord and Savior. Accepting the Sacrament of Baptism and accepting the covenant of membership, you become a member of our church body.

• Renewal/Restoration of Membership: Offered to individuals who may have been a confirmed member of a church in the past, but withdrew membership or no longer have a church from which to transfer. This method is for those who have a strong desire to reunite with the Christian faith.

• Certificate of Transfer: A member on roll in any Christian denomination, who has been confirmed, may be received into membership by a certificate of transfer.

• Affiliate Membership: Offered to members of another United Methodist Church who are located in the vicinity on a temporary basis.

• Associate Membership: Offered to persons who are members of another denomination located in the vicinity on a temporary basis.

OUR MISSION

At Maple Springs, our mission is to be Rooted, Growing, and Bearing Fruit for Christ. This mission is spelled out in John 15 where Jesus says:

1 “I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinegrower. 2 He removes every branch in me that bears no fruit. Every branch that bears fruit he prunes[a] to make it bear more fruit. 3 You have already been cleansed[b] by the word that I have spoken to you. 4 Abide in me as I abide in you. Just as the branch cannot bear fruit by itself unless it abides in the vine, neither can you unless you abide in me. 5 I am the vine, you are the branches. Those who abide in me and I in them bear much fruit, because apart from me you can do nothing."

BECOME Rooted in Christ

Here at Maple Springs, we value being ROOTED in Christ. This is all about your living relationship with the living God. When you are rooted in Christ, you receive nutrients for living. How can you get ROOTED?

Step One: Commit to Worship (When you are in town, make this commitment to attendance) 

Step Two: Commit to Regular Weekly “Time with God” (Make a daily time to read the scriptures and pray)

Step Three: Commit to Serve rather than “be served” (Choose one of our Serving Opportunities and get involved)

Step Four: Orientation to the church to learn how to get fully connected with Christ and the missions and ministries of Maple Springs using your spiritual gifts.

We believe that if you will make these commitments, then you will begin to grow your roots deep in Christ.

BEGIN Growing in Christ

We all have to start somewhere and it does matter where you go next! If you will commit to “root” your life in Christ, that is to be connected with Him, then you will BEGIN to see changes in your life. You will see yourself GROWING in your relationship with Christ and with others. It begins with being connected with Christ – only then can you grow. What does GROWING look like?

1. You GROW in your personal relationships.

2. You GROW in your knowledge and understanding of Christ and Who you are in Him.

3. You GROW in your service within the Church. Your attitude is geared toward “serving others”.

4. You GROW in your giving to the Church. The biblical goal for us all is to give a tithe of our income which is 10%. Even if you don’t start at 10% then make your goal to GROW to this level of giving.

REACH OUT Bearing Fruit for Christ

Here at Maple Springs, we talk about begin rooted and growing in Christ. Being rooted and growing leads inevitably to “BEARING FRUIT” that is to reaching out beyond yourself. For some people, reaching out actually precedes the ROOTED part. This is okay and is understood as God working in your life already through prevenient grace! For instance, your heart might already beat fast for the poor and you choose to work in the Food Pantry, yet are not even sure about who Christ is. Guess what? You are in a good place! Christ is at work in you already and we are here to help grow your roots even deeper in Him. We believe that “Reaching Out” to those in need is an essential component of following Jesus! You can "reach out" by helping out in our missions ministries!
